The Sani Dragon is a 2-day MTB stage race happening on the 30th September / 1st October in the Underberg area of Southern KZN. The event will be based at the Premier Resort Sani Pass and takes place over the same period as the annual Underberg Farmer’s Association (UFA) Agricultural Show.
Day 1 will be approximately 50km in length and will form a large loop incorporating some of the most scenic district roads, jeep tracks and single track in the Underberg & Himeville area. The day will start at the Premier Hotel Himeville Arms and finish at the Premier Resort Sani Pass. Start time 07h00
Day 2 is 42km in length and is a race to the summit of the famous Sani Pass and back, starting and finishing at the Premier Resort Sani Pass. Start time 06h30
The events will follow a TEAM of 2 format but there will be also be a SOLO category.
There will also be a LITE event with distances of approximately 35km on Day 1 and 26km on Day 2. Day 2 will be to the South African Border Post and back. Both days starting and finish at the same locations as the main race.
Registration will be from 14h00 to 18h00 on Friday 29th September at the Premier Hotel Himeville Arms in Himeville.
There will be a car shuttle service from the start of day 1 at the Premier Hotel Himeville Arms to the finish at Premier Resort Sani Pass. The cost of the shuttle will be R100 per vehicle payable at registration. If you would like to book the shuttle then please email us at email@example.com. Bookings to be made by 17h00 on Wednesday 27 September so we can plan for numbers.
Your entry to the Sani Dragon includes but is not limited to:
– Sani Dragon Headware
– 2 or 3 well stocked water points on both days (please bring your preferred nutrition if required)
– Prepared single track on Day 1
– Race medical support (medical aid / insurance required if hospital treatment necessary)
– Passport free access to the Sani Pass on Day 2 during the race (not LITE event)
– Lucky draw prizes
Entries for the Sani Dragon will open on 19 July 2017 and will close on 22nd September 2017.

– Riders will be able to register for the event using a South African ID Number or an International Passport Number
– Riders must be 19-years of age as of 31 December 2017 to register for the Dragon / Solo events
– Riders must be 15-years of age as of 31 December 2017 to register for the LITE events
Full payment is required on entry. Email confirmations will be sent on completion of the on-line entry form with details of how to make payment. Payments can only be made via EFT or bank deposit.
Please note: payment needs to be received within 24 hours to secure the entry. If no payment is received the entry will be cancelled and you will be notified as such. You will then need to restart the entry process if you wish to enter, providing entries are still available. Only once a participant has paid in full will they have a confirmed spot in the event.
Once entries are closed or full you may register on the waiting list. If entries become available due to cancellation the waiting list will be used on a first come first served basis. The next person on the waiting list will be contacted by email and will have 48 hours to accept their entry otherwise they will be removed from the waiting list and the next in line will be contacted.
The Sani Dragon will refund 80% of your entry fee if cancelled on or before 22nd September 2017.
Under no circumstances may someone take part under another athlete’s name, proof of identification will be required at registration.
